Peanut Butter Recall -- Zone Bars
I learned today that ZonePerfect bars--Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor--are subject to voluntary recall. All lots have been tested and no salmonella has been found in any of them, but is it worth the risk? And wouldn't you know that I just got a couple of dozen of them from Costco this past weekend?
Now I am curious: is it safe to dispose of them in the compost bin?

Awww. come on..test that immune system a little. So it's okay for you to not eat them but you're okay with making the worms sick in your compost bin?
Proper management of compost temperature and moisture should protect those wormies.
:) very funny

Hey Michael,
Salmonella really sucks. That being said, if they were my Zone Bars, I'd eat them. The chance of you getting it is probably slim to none--especially as you're a strong one!
But if you get it, don't blame me!!
I went ahead and composted them. The manufacturer is sending me a check for their cost, so it only seemed right to be rid of them.
